K.S. Harishankar is a playback singer who works in Malayalam cinema. He made his debut at the age of 5 alongwith legendry singer K. J. Yesudas for the film Saaphalyam.[1] Now he is among the promising male singers of Malayalam film industry.[2][3][4]

The songs Payye payye from Ormayundo Ee Mukham[5] and VidyaSagar compositions; Nilaavum Maayunnu and Vaanam Chaayum from films Ennum Eppozhum[6] and Anarkali respectively made Harishankar popular among music lovers.

Harishankar is the grandson of singer K. Omanakutty, while singer-music director late M. G. Radhakrishnan and M.G.Sreekumar are his mother’s uncles.[5]

Biography

Harishankar is a trained classical singer under his father Aleppey Sreekumar and K. Omanakutty from Swathi Thirunal College of Music. He has won several awards and has appeared as a Carnatic vocalist at Music Academy, Chennai and several other venues in Kerala. He also own Pragathi, an independent fusion band.[5]

Awards

Harishankar won the most promising new singer 2015 asiavision award for the song Nilaavum Maayunnu from Ennum Eppozhum.[7][8]
