KTV (Tamil: கேktvதொலைக்காட்சி) is a 24-hour Tamil movie television channel featuring Kollywood films launched on 22 October 2001.[1] It is a part of the wider Chennai-based Sun TV Network, a subsidiary of the Sun Group.

History

The letter K in KTV stands for Kondattam which means celebration. It was launched on 22 October 2001. It was founded by Kalanidhi Maran, the Chairman of Sun TV Network. At the time of launch, Sun TV Network's library had over 5,000 movies.[2] Its HD counterpart was launched on 11 December 2011.[3]
