Kabinda District

Kabinda District was a district of the Kasai-Oriental province, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.^[1] In 2015 it was merged with the independently administered city of Mwene Ditu to form Lomami Province.

Location

Kabinda District lies at the centre of the country on the Lomami River. It is distant from the city of Mbuji-Mayi, current capital of Kasai Oriental Province, 160 km along the national highway No. 1, which extends up to Kasongo in Maniema Province.

There are three major ethnic groups, the (Songye, Kanyok and Luba).

Administration

Manik Tshikut Ignace has been the district administrator since 2005.

The capital of the district is Kabinda.^[2] Territories are:

• Kabinda
• Kamiji
• Lubao
• Luilu
