Kallaji Rathore

Kallaji Rathore was the eldest son of Rawal Meghraj of Mehwa near Jasol, Kallaji or Kalla died fighting in the Third Saka (vikram Samvat 1624 in chittaurgarh against forces of Akbar defending Mewar.

Descendants of Kallaji were later granted jagir by Mewar. They finally settled in Neemri and ruled the thikana comprising 60 villages until India's independence in 1947 and merger of Mewar in the Union of India. The present titular head is Thakur Sahab Shreeman Budh Singh Ji of Neemri-Jawda.

Relevance

Followers of Kallaji are developing a university at Nimbahera in Rajasthan to promote vedic learing.
