Kang Seul-gi (born February 10, 1994) is a South Korean singer. She is a member of the South Korean girl group Red Velvet under SM Entertainment.

Biography

Kang Seul-gi was born on February 10, 1994, in Ansan, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea.[1] She studied in Ansan Byeolmang Middle School and attended Seoul Performing Arts High School. She can speak both Korean and Japanese.

Career

Pre-debut and S.M. Rookies

Seul-gi began training in S.M. Entertainment in 2007. In December 2013, she was introduced to the public through S.M. Entertainment's pre-debut project, SM Rookies, along with fellow Red Velvet members, Irene and Wendy.[2]

In July 2014, she was featured in Henry Lau's song "Butterfly" from his second EP Fantastic. She also appeared in the music video of the single "Fantastic".[3]

2014–present: Red Velvet and solo activities

Seul-gi made her official debut with Red Velvet on August 1, 2014 with the digital single "Happiness".[4]

In January 2015, she starred in an S.M. Entertainment musical School Oz, playing the lead role of Dorothy.[5] From April to May, she was part of the JTBC variety show Off to School[6]

In July 2016, she released the song "Don't Push Me" with Wendy as part of the soundtrack of the KBS2 drama, Uncontrollably Fond.[7] In October, Seulgi appeared on King of Mask Singer as the contestant Cinema Heaven.[8]

Seulgi together with EXO-CBX will remake Blade & Soul's OST, the song is set to be released on November 18th and is directed by Yoon Sang.
