Karkarook Park

Karkarook Park is a metropolitan park in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. An artificial wetlands and lake created by extracting sand between 1997 and 2001, it is located on Warrigal Road in Moorabbin.^[1] Fishing is possible, with redfin perch and rainbow trout reported.^[2]

Prior to sand removal, Karkarook Park and adjacent areas were largely used as a storm-water retarding basin and for market gardens and horse agistment.^[3]

In 2011, the Victorian government released plans for Karkarook Park to be joined up with nearby parks in the south-east green wedge to form a "chain of parks." Parks in the south-east to be connected include Braeside Park.^[4]
