Kavi Uddheshichathu..? (English: The Poet Intended..?) is a 2016 Indian Malayalam film directed by Thomas Liju Thomas. It features Asif Ali, Biju Menon, and Narain in lead roles along with Anju Kurian, Balu Varghese, Ganapathy and Sija Rose in supporting roles. It is produced jointly by Asif Ali and Sajin Jaffer under the production, Adam's World Of Imagination.[2] The soundtrack and background score for the film are composed by Jakes Bijoy and Vinu Thomas.[3] The film was released on 8 October 2016.[4][5]

Plot

The story of Kavi Uddeshichathu..? is set in a place called Allimoola, which is known for crazy Volleyball fans present over there. Kavalam Jimmy(Asif Ali) and Vattathil Bosco(Narain) are always at loggerheads. Both of them form Vollyball teams for a bet that they have placed. Then enters Minnal Simon(Biju Menon), who is out there to help Jimmy in the role of a volleyball coach. What happens next has been narrated in an interesting way in Kavi Uddheshichathu..?[6]

The film started production in April 2016. Kavi Uddheshichathu..? released on 8 October 2016 in 73 screens across Kerala.[9]

Critical reception

Deccan Chronicle reviewer Elizabeth Thomas rated it 2.5/5 and stated: "The plot of Kavi Udeshichathu is hardly unique and it is not hard to guess the flow of events. However, the movie is not disappointing either".[10] Nikhil of Manorama Online says it a worth watchable flick with lot of fun. He praised the direction, casting and music.[11] Abhijith of Filmibeat.com rated it 3/5 and states: "Kavi Uddheshichathu is a decent entertainer that has its own moments".[12]
