4over6 is an IPv6 transition technology. It is intended as a mechanism for Internet Service Providers to provide continued access to the IPv4 Internet over an IPv6-only service provider infrastructure. 4over6 is described the following RFCs:
- RFC 7040 - "Public IPv4-over-IPv6 Access Network" (informational), describing Public 4over6
- RFC 7596 - "Lightweight 4over6: An Extension to the Dual-Stack Lite Architecture" (standards-track), describing Lightweight 4over6
