List of D.Gray-man episodes (season 2)
The second season of the D.Gray-man anime series is named the 2nd stage.[1] The anime is directed by Osamu Nabeshima and produced by Dentsu, TMS Entertainment, Aniplex and TV Tokyo. The animation was produced by TMS Entertainment and Aniplex was responsible for the music production. The plot of the episodes is based on that of the D.Gray-man manga series by Katsura Hoshino, and follows the adventures of Allen Walker, an Exorcist that wields the power of "Innocence" in order to fight against the Earl of Millennium, an ancient sorcerer seeking to destroy the world with monsters called akuma.
The episodes of the second season started airing on October 2, 2007 in Japan on TV Setouchi and TV Tokyo. Seven DVD compilations of the second season have been released by Aniplex between March 5, 2008 and September 3, 2008.[2][3] Aniplex has announced the release of four more DVD compilations between October 1, 2008 and January 7, 2009.[4][5]
Six pieces of theme music are used for the episodes: two opening themes and four ending themes. The two opening themes are "Doubt & Trust" by Access, used for episodes 52 to 76, and Uverworld's "Gekidō" (激動), which is used for the rest of the episodes. The four closing themes are "The Reason Why You Are Here" (あなたがここにいる理由 Anata ga Koko ni Iru Riyū) by Rie Fu, utilized for episodes 52 to 64, "Wish" by Sowelu, utilized for episodes 65 to 76, Mai Hoshimura's "Regret", utilized for episodes 77 to 89, and Stephanie's "Changin'", for episodes 90 to the final episode 103.

Exorcists Suman Dark, Chalker Laboun and Kazaana Reed from General Zokalo's team fight the Noah Tyki Mikk in India, but only Suman Dark survives. In China an injured man is helped by a family, but he transforms into a Fallen One (咎落ち Togaochi), a towering white headless torso topped by a halo. Allen, the Exorcists and their allies set sail for Japan, but are confronted by a massive hoard of Akuma. However they they are not the intended target and the Akuma pass by until some recognize the Exorcists on board and attack the ship. The Black Order fight valiantly, but Allen is captured and Lenalee goes in pursuit. She rescues him just as they see the Fallen One which seems to be the objective of the Akuma. The Akuma all attack the Fallen One and Lenalee sees the face of Suman in its heart, and he says that "he failed in the eyes of God". | |||

In the past at Black Order headquarters, an experiment is carried out where a young boy is implanted with a fragment of Innocence, but he fails to synchronize and he becomes a Fallen One. The experiment is witnessed by a very young Lenalee. She realizes that this is what happened to Suman. The Suman Fallen One generates a massive amount of power, destroying not only the Akuma, but everything in the area. Lenalee desperately carries Allen towards Suman to stop Suman's Innocence from insanity and try to save him, however but Allen is drawn inside the heart as he tries to draw a child from within. Allen realizes that Suman made a deal with the Devil and betrayed his Innocence which is now trying to kill him. Cursing everything, the Suman Fallen One drifts downwards towards a town. | |||

Allen falls to the ground while the flailing energy from the Suman Fallen One continues to destroy the nearby town. Allen tries to reason with Sulman and stop him by increasing his Innocence's synchro rate to its maximum power, but without success. Lenalee talks to Komui by phone who tells her that Suman is destined to die as his Innocence has judged him for betraying the Order and God by giving information about the Black Order to Tyki in return for a chance to live and see his family again. Allen decides to extract Suman's Innocence and to save him however the strain causes intense pain and depletes his left arm. | |||

Suman’s Fallen One body begins to disintegrate as it cuts a swathe of destruction through the landscape, destroying the town below and killing its people, commencing its final stage of decomposition. In a last desperate effort, fighting extreme pain and exhaustion, Allen separates Suman's Innocence in his arm from his body, and extracts him from the Fallen One, but although Suman's body is alive, his mind is dead. Tyki appears and takes what remains of Suman as his body transforms into strange black butterflies, although Allen still holds Suman's Innocence. | |||

After watching Suman crumble away in front of him, Allen meets the sadistic Noah, Tyki Mikk who explains his ability to pass through anything and control the devilish butterflies known as Teez. Cell Roron in the card Tyki holds identifies Allen as Tyki’s target and to be deleted. Tyki rips off Allen's left arm and destroys his Innocence, with Allen to weak to resist and screaming in pain. Fearing that he is near his final moments of life, Allen orders Timcanpy to escape with Suman's Innocence and Timcanpy reluctantly does so. Tyki orders the surrounding Akuma to chase and catch the golden golem. Tyki then orders a Teez to tear a hole in Allen's heart to kill him slowly, and then removes a button from his coat. | |||

As Lavi and Lenalee travel through the air with Lavi's hammer they see Timcanpy being attacked by Akuma and save the golden golem. Timcanpy leads Lavi and Lenalee follow Timcanpy back to the bamboo forest. Allen is gone so Timcanpy shows them what happened causing leaving them distraught. When they return to the port, a man from the Asian Branch named Won explains that Allen was found and is being held at their headquarters but is not clear if Allen is dead or alive and that that the Exorcists are to continue their journey to Japan immediately, without seeing Allen. They are introduced to his replacement, Miranda Lotto, who uses her anti-Akuma weapon, Time Record, to restore the badly damaged ship to its original condition and the Exorcists finally depart China. Meanwhile Allen, thinking he is dead, sees an unreal world with a lake that reflects a black moon, the Black Order in ruins and Lenalee crying alone with what appears to be Allen's corpse, only to awaken in the Asian branch, still alive. | |||

Allen finally opens his eyes and wonders how he is alive. Komui learns from from Asian Headquarters Chief, Bak Chan, that it was Allen’s own Innocence, which although was destroyed, lingered on as a cloud of particles that actually filled the hole of his damaged heart, saving his life. Allen meets Won, who is Bak's assistant; Fo, who carried him from the forest and is the guardian of the Asian Headquarters; and three division workers: Rikei, Shifu, and Lou Fa who assist in his recovery. Determined to rejoin his companions, get to Edo, and fulfil his promise to Mana, Allen vows to restore his Innocence at all costs. However, he discovers it has been dissipated into a mist and must be re-formed into his anti-Akuma weapon but it is not as easy as he thinks. | |||

While trying to restore his Innocence Allen discovers that Bak Chan has a crush on Lenalee, but Bak also explains the difference between Allen’s Parasitic-type Innocence and the Eqiip-type. Still unable to restore his Innocence by himself, Allen begins his special training by doing battle with Fo trying to activate his Innocence. Meanwhile, Generals Klaud Nine and Winters Sokaro return to the Black Order upon news of the deaths of their Exorcist units. | |||

Allen and Fo continue training and Allen is able to regenerate his left arm for short periods. Back on the ship en route to Edo, Lenalee finally decides to accept the fact that Allen had to be left behind and she puts on one of the new Exorcist uniforms. However, the ship is attacked by Eshii, a powerful Level 3 Akuma, who was once a Japanese painter and uses the word "Title" before he names every attack. Lavi, and then Bookman fiercely fight against Eshii, but they are no match for him. They are saved temporarily by Miranda's power although Bookman receives a serious injury. Realizing that everyone is in serious danger, Lenalee leaves the ship to confront Eshii alone. | |||

Lavi continues to fight Eshii fiercely in the air and risks leaving Miranda's zone of influence. Meanwhile, the ship comes under attack from Akuma hiding up high in the clouds. Many crewmen are struck by the blasts and killed, only to be revived temporarily by Miranda's Innocence. Lenalee tells Lavi so to protect the ship while she continues the fight against Eshii. Lenalee and Eshii's battle reaches the ocean surface where Eshii reveals his most powerful ability. He uses his dark matter to create chains around Lenalee and the ship, increasing the gravity around them and dragging them underwater. Lenalee struggles to stay afloat, but Eshii pushes her down and she disappears into the ocean depths. | |||

Allen’s Akuma-seeking eye wakes him and he hears Lenalees's distant voice. Lenalee, floating in darkness, remembers Allen and what she said to him concerning her view of the world - caring more about her friends than the real world. She decides to make one last effort and pushes herself and her Innocence to the limits to achieve full activation and even exceeds it, defeating Eshii in the process but disappearing once again. | |||

The Exorcists and sailors and on board the ship struggle to protect it from the Akuma hidden in the clouds far above them. However, with Eshii's destruction, Lavi is able to clear the clouds and send Krory upwards towards them. Krory finds only three large Akuma and infects them with his own blood, poisoning and destroying them. The Exorcists now anxiously wait for Lenalee's return, but Lavi can't wait and he uses his hammer to search for Lenalee. Suddenly, he sees a yellow Akuma above the ocean holding Lenalee in a crystal-like shield created by her Innocence to protect her. The level 2 Akuma reveals that it was converted by Cross Marian. | |||

Lavi returns to the ship with Lenalee in a crystal-like shield and Chomesuke the yellow Akuma. Bookman can't understand why Lenalee's equip-type Innocence acted on its own to save her. Chomesuke delivers a warning from Cross and explains the dire situation in Japan where he is now attempting to destroy an Akuma factory in Edo. The crystal begins to melt, and Lenalee is freed, but she is unable to walk. Nevertheless, the group of Exorcists with three surviving sailors decide to push forward. To achieve this, Miranda must deactivate her Innocence, causing the ship to revert to real time with Anita, Mahoja and its crew willingly sacrificing themselves, and they all disappear into the sea. Chomesuke propels a lifeboat with the survivors towards Japan. | |||

The five Exorcists and three surviving sailors finally arrive in Japan, but they are in bad shape from their injuries. Chomesuke changes into her human form, a young woman named Sachiko. She tells them that Japan has long been under the Earl's control. On the way to Edo, the group witnesses one of Sachiko's friends being killed and eaten by three Level 3 Akuma. Tyki meets up with Jasdero and David who have been assigned to kill General Cross and travel together to meet the Earl. Chomesuke is captured by one of the Level 3 Akuma, who proves to be more than a match for both Lavi and Krory. However, Lavi cleverly attracts the attention of the other two Level 3s, and the three Akuma begin fighting between each other over who will kill the Exorcists, who seize their chance to escape. Meanwhile the Millennium Earl gathers his Noah in Edo. | |||

Allen trains endlessly with Fo, trying to reactivate his Innocence as he desperately wants to return to his friends and to fight the Akuma alongside them, but he makes little progress. Some within the China Branch are concerned that Allen’s presence may attract Akuma. Fo disguises herself as Lou Fa and talks with Allen, reminding him that he fights not for the sake of fighting, but for something precious to him. Allen remembers that he is fighting for the sake of his friends. Meanwhile, Tyki Mikk checks with the Earl to see if the Cell Roron is correct about Allen's existence. He then sends a Level 3 Akuma and a Teez to China to kill Allen. | |||

Lenalee and the others head towards Edo and are ambushed by the Level 3 Akuma that they encountered earlier. They manage to evade them for a while, but eventually, they are surrounded. Before they can do anything, however, the Earl summons all Akuma to Edo, so they leave without doing anything. Chomesuke also parts from the group because the Earl's order is too strong for her to resist, but she manages to tell them that the Earl is at the Edo Castle. Meanwhile, while training with Fo in the Asian Branch, Allen's eye activates. The Earl orders his Akuma army to kill General Cross and General Tiedoll. Lavi and the Exorcists appear and challenge them in order to protect the Generals. After Lavi and Krory defeat three Level 3 Akuma, Tyki Mikk recognizes them and challenges Lavi, telling him that Allen is still alive, but he had sent a Level 3 Akuma to kill him. | |||

Allen slowly improves his fighting technique, but he still cannot cause his Innocence to materialize. He focuses deeply on returning to his friends, causing his Innocence to show high energy readings. However, just as the energy readings peak, Allen's left eye activates which causes Allen great pain and alarms the scientists. He continues training, and causes a peak in his Innocence energy, however at that point, the pain spikes and Allen faints. Suddenly, Fo senses something strange as Tyki Mikk's Level 3 assassin approaches, and she tells Bak to hide Allen. The Akuma blows a hole through Fo, breaking her defensive barrier. Allen's left eye immediately activates and omits a strange sensation. Fo tells Allen to run, but Allen refuses. At that moment, the Akuma fires a beam of dark matter, piercing Allen’s chest. | |||

The beam from Tyki's Level 3 Akuma assassin partially breaks down Allen's molecular structure, making his body highly unstable and transparent. Bak awakens the guardian deity with a blood seal on his hand, trapping the Akuma in a web of light and the Asian Branch enters lockdown. The group then retreats with the wounded Fo and the unstable Allen. Bak attempts to seal them off with the guardian deity, however before he can finish, the Akuma catches up with them. Fo takes the form of Allen to sacrifice herself in order to allow Allen and the others get to safety. She and enters the passage to face the Akuma as Bak seals the section. Allen realizes that he fights for the sake of both humans and Akuma and insists on rescuing Fo, even at the risk to his own life. His Innocence manifests itself around him, and he warps to the door, which Bak finally unseals. Allen enters the room just as Fo is about to be killed by the Akuma and jumps onto the Akuma's back and injures it with his right hand. | |||

Allen engages the Level 3 Akuma in battle. He speaks to the soul trapped within the Akuma which had previously been calling out to him and it asks Allen to save him. However, because his body's composition is unstable, Allen literally begins to fade during the fight. When Allen is almost atomized, the Akuma turns on Bak and Fo piercing them with beams of anti-matter. Enraged, Allen finally decides that he will save humans with his right hand and Akuma with his left hand. The true form of his Innocence is revealed and he easily destroys the Level 3 Akuma and liberates its soul. Before the Akuma dies, it tells Allen of the gathering of the Earl and the Noah in Edo. He also tells Allen the location of Noah's Ark that can take him directly to Edo. It's revealed that the true from Allen's Innocence is called God's Clown, also known as the Crowned Clown. Allen now has a gloved white right hand, a long black left arm with razor sharp talons for fingers, a white cowl that shoots web-like projectiles and is fitted with a mask. | |||

After Allen recovers many tests are done on his left arm which has completely synchronized with his body. Bak and Allen decide on a new name for Allen's newly evolved Innocence: God's Clown, or the Crowned Clown. The Asian Branch also analyse the Ark which is a dimensional transporter. Allen is then given a new Exorcist coat by Wong, and Bak gives him a wireless communicator in a form of a gold earring, which allows him to talk to Komui. As Allen bids farewell to the Asian Branch, preparing to head off to Edo via Noah's Ark, Lou Fa, Rikei, and Shifu return his deck of cards. The episode ends with Lavi and the Exorcists preparing to engage in battle with Tyki Mikk. | |||

The battle between the Exorcists and the Earl's forces begins in Edo. While Lavi fights Tyki, the Earl combines all the Akuma into two giant Akuma which attack the Exorcists. Lavi attacks Tyki with a new move, a combination of the Fire and Heaven Seals. The Exorcists attack the Combined Akuma, but their attacks have little effect. One Combined Akuma uses its Evil Star Gita attack and destroys much of the battlefield. Chomesuke sacrifices herself to enable Lavi, Krory, and Bookman to attack the Combined Akuma's head, its weak point. Although they succeed in knocking it down, the Akuma manages to get back up again and Tyki rejoins the attack. Meanwhile, Allen enters the Ark and is surprised to find that it is a lovely place filled with white buildings, just like any other country. When he expresses his concern for his friends, Komui cheers him up by telling him to think about happy thoughts. Kanda, Marie, and General Tiedoll arrive in Edo, overlooking the scene of the battle between the Exorcists and the Akuma. | |||

Bookman and Krory continue their assault on the Combined Akuma, but their attacks continue to fail while Lavi is repeatedly beaten down by Tyki. Meanwhile, Miranda can no longer maintain her Innocence's barrier over the storage room, giving Tyki the opportunity to capture Lenalee. Chaoji and his comrades vainly attempt to help her, but just as Tyki is about to deal them the killing blow, Kanda intervenes and begins a fight with Tyki. With Lavi's help, he manages to save Lenalee. Tyki prepares to counterattack, but he retreats when ordered to by the Millennium Earl. Marie uses his Noel Organon's ability to paralyze one of the Combined Akuma. Kanda then reveals Mugen's second illusion, Nigentou, and destroys the Akuma in one slash. However, before the Exorcists can relax, the Earl fires off a black orb of energy that grows larger and larger, engulfing Edo in the process. | |||

The Earl's black orb of energy completely destroys Edo. The Exorcists are left in various conditions, though General Cross' group is more severely wounded. Lenalee, however, is protected by her Innocence, which once again encases her in a crystal-like form. This form catches the Earl's interest, and he sends Tyki, Skin, and the Combined Akuma to obtain her Innocence. Kanda fights Tyki, Lavi and Marie confront Skin, and General Tiedoll confronts the Combined Akuma. He activates his Maker of Eden Innocence and stops it. However, with all the Exorcists doing battle with the Noah, Lenalee is left unguarded, giving the Earl a chance to breach Lenalee's protective Innocence barrier. As he is about to grab her, a white arm stops him. Allen has arrived with the Ark, and he and the Earl meet face to face once again. | |||

After returning to Edo, Allen greets the Earl and vows to protect Lenalee. The Earl retaliates and thus, begins fighting Allen. During the fight, the Earl reveals some of his hidden abilities including turning Lero into a sword. Eventually, Allen hits the Earl with a Cross Grave attack, but the Earl seems unaffected. The Earl laughs and assures Allen that they will continue their fight another time, and he fires a purple orb of energy, which causes a massive explosion. When the smoke clears, The Earl, Tyki, and Skin are gone, leaving the Exorcists confused. Inside the Ark, the Earl reveals to Tyki that both Allen and his Innocence are still alive. In Edo, the Exorcists seize their chance to heal and regroup. Despite General Tiedoll's warning of the upcoming dangers, General Cross' group decides to keep moving forward. Lenalee awakens and thanks Allen for trying so hard to save Suman. A pentacle suddenly appears on the ground, and Lenalee is kidnapped by Lero and disappears. | |||

Lenalee is sucked into a portal created by Lero. Allen reaches into the portal and is pulled in as well. Lavi, Kanda, Krory, and Chaoji follow suit. Those left behind see a strange object materialize in the sky; the infamous Noah's Ark. Allen and his friends find themselves inside the Ark and see a projection of the Earl which tells them that they will be deleted in three hours along with the Ark. The remaining Exorcists on in Edo are then attacked by a horde of Combined Akuma. Marie attacks with his Noel Organon ability while Tiedoll attacks with his Maker of Eden, Art, a gigantic white figure. Miranda tells Bookman that everyone's time is still inside her Innocence, but any new injuries they receive will not heal. Meanwhile inside the Ark, Tyki appears and Allen realizes that Tyki is the Noah that destroyed his Innocence. Tyki gives them a key to an exit door created by Road, situated at the Ark's highest point on top of a tower. The Exorcists enter a room in the tower and are confronted by the Noah, Skin Boric. Kanda recognizes Skin as the Noah targeting General Tiedoll. He tells the others to go ahead and prepares to challenge Skin by himself. | |||

Kanda decides to fight the Noah, Skin Bolic, and tells the others to go ahead. They refuse and insist on staying with Kanda until he finally attacks them in frustration. They go ahead after Lenalee makes Kanda promise to follow them. Nonetheless, they worry because they know that the room will be destroyed once it finishes downloading. Now alone, Kanda starts to fight Skin one-on-one. Tyki Mikk watches these events in a room with Road. Skin transforms into a golden armored giant and starts battling Kanda. In Edo, Marie and Tiedoll continue to fight the Combined Akuma. | |||

Kanda, superior in speed, and Skin, superior in power, fight to an apparent stalemate. Skin reflects on his past while barraging Kanda with blasts of lightning; Kanda responds by using his Nigentou. Kanda then activates his Kinki Sangenshiki (Taboo Three Illusions). The room shakes, signaling that it will soon collapse. As Kanda uses his first move, Eight Flowers Praying Mantis and then second move Sublimate his life force is partially drained by his Nigentou. Kanda remembers Komui telling him that the duration of his life, is like a lotus blossom that as it loses petals, it symbolizes the amount of time that he has left. Suddenly Skin’s dark energy chains materialize, connecting Kanda to Skin. Skin uses these to throw Kanda around, telling him that the Noah can never die. Kanda endures as he is still protected by Miranda’s Time Record Innocence and unleashes a final attack. As Skin falls, Kanda tells him that anyone can die as long as they remain mortal. Sure of his victory, Kanda heads for the exit as Skin slowly reawakens saying that Noah are immortal. | |||

Believing he defeated Skin, Kanda walks to the exit of the room, but the numbness in his left hand and knees hinder him, and much of his life was consumed in the battle with Skin. Skin's eyes start to bleed and he recalls three years ago, a stigmata in the shape of a row of crosses on his forehead appeared and he went to see a priest who told him about Noahs. He then killed everyone there, turning them into Akuma. It was then that the Earl appeared to him and explained his history and his purpose - to kill humans and never forgive god for creating him. Remembering the pain that the Innocence caused his ancestors, the Noah revives to fight Kanda once more. Draining more of his life, Kanda restores Mugen momentarily and destroys Skin, but the exit crumbles before he can leave. As the room crumbles, Kanda thinks of his comrades and of the lotus blossom, representing the remainder of his life, wilting, and he smiles before he disappears. The room then completely collapses. In Edo, Miranda notices that someone's time has vanished. | |||

As Skin Boric dies, the other Noah involuntarily begin to cry. Allen’s group continue looking for an exit with Lero. The Noah hold a wake for Skin. They then find out that General Cross had escaped from the Noah twins, Jasdero and David, once again, leaving them with a list of his debts. Road notices that Allen's name is also on the bills. While the group continues walking down the corridor, the twins set several traps which involve booby-trapped liquor bottles and gambling. Allen manages to beat these challenges through his knowledge of past experiences with General Cross. Eventually, they come face to face with Jasdero and David. The confrontation begins with the twins using their guns to fire Cross' rolled-up bills at Allen, before firing a special freeze bullet. | |||

The twins, Jasdero and David fire several kinds of bullets at Allen: blue (freeze beam), red (ball of fire) and white (neutralizer), however the guns and bullets are just the vehicles of their power. The twins want Allen to pay the debts General Cross tricked them into paying before he disappeared from Edo, but which Allen claims that they are nothing compared to those that left to him. The battle between the Noah and Exorcists begins in earnest. The twins fire a purple bullet which covers the eyes of the Exorcists with a purple mask called Deceiving Spectacles which manipulates their vision and Allen loses Road's key in a sea of illusionary copies summoned by the Twins' ability. | |||

With their eyes covered by purple masks which manipulate their vision Jasdero and David are longer visible to the Exorcist group, and they cannot find the key. Allen tries to force them out of hiding, but the twins fire a green bullet, enclosing Allen in a green airless jelly-like blob. Lavi releases Allen and reveals that he is Bookman's successor and can identify the original key. As Lavi searches for the key, Krory says that he can detect the twins, and directs Allen into successfully catching them. To get out of their hold, the twins release a mud-monster called Jasdevi's Hatred on Allen and Krory, devouring them whole. The twins then take Lenalee as a shield, angering Allen, who breaks free, only to be kept busy by an illusionary Earl with all the strength of the real one. Lero reveals that the twins' ability is Materialization, where when they are thinking the same thing, they can make it real. When Lavi finds the key and opens the exit door, the masks and illusions disappear and the twins are visible once again. Angry at being called 'kids' and annoyances, they merge and reveal their true form, Jasdevi, "the strongest body ever imagined ". | |||

In their combined form of Jasdevi, Jasdero and David become exponentially stronger. Jasdevi angers Krory by casually calling him a vampire and a monster. Krory challenges Jasdevi one-on-one to allow the others time to escape. When Krory drinks one of his three bottles of Chomesuke's blood, he is able to fight almost on par with Jasdevi. Fueled by his anger and memory of of his lost love Eliade, Krory drinks a second bottle of blood, but the fight has left him too weak to break down the Akuma virus within his blood. He grows weaker, but tries to avoid drinking the last bottle, but when he decides that he must drink it Jasdevi takes it from him and drinks it himself. With Krory greatly weakened, Jasdevi is able to enclose him inside an iron maiden. | |||

After Krory's defeat, Jasdevi follows Allen and the others. Meanwhile, the dying Krory encounters his lost love, Eliade, who tells him that by dying, he'll lose those humans who considered him a friend. More determined than ever, Krory's blood leaves his body and attacks Jasdevi in a form created by his Innocence called Bloody Krory. This considerably weakens Jasdevi and after one final clash, Jasdevi separates back into Jasdero and David, causing them to stop and rest, ultimately falling through the door and disappearing. The iron maiden falls open and Krory and his Innocence rejoin as the room collapses. Allen and the others continue their walk through the Ark and come to the final room, at the top of the tower, where Road and Tyki await. Upon entering the room, Allen is tackled by Road Camelot who kisses him and then they discover that the tower is the only building left intact in the Ark. | |||

With only the tower left standing on the Ark, the group is now trapped inside with two Noahs. Lenalee and Lavi are shocked to learn that Allen's Innocence has literally become part of his heart. This leads Lavi to speculate Allen, in addition to Lenalee, may be the heart. Soon after, Allen and Tyki face off once again. Meanwhile, Road traps Lenalee and Chaoji and sends Lavi's mind and spirit to another dimension, where he has to confront himself. Road promises that if he survives, she will release his trapped comrades. | |||

Allen's battle with Tyki Mikk and Lavi's struggle within Road's dream continue. Tyki is determined to crush Allen's Innocence once again, but Allen remembers Komui saying that while Innocence is the weakness of Noah, Innocence is vulnerable to the Noah. Tyki attacks Allen with absolute power, severely damaging Allen, but his Innocence heals him. Tyki uses his ability to create a vacuum in the atmosphere around Allen, suffocating him. As Tyki enters the vacuum to finish off Allen, he finds that Allen is still conscious. Allen attempts to activate his Innocence with stronger synchronization and power, but Tyki drives his hand into Allen's heart. And as Tyki is about to crush it, Allen's body begins to glow. Meanwhile in the HQ, Hevlaska is experiencing pain and chanting that a new General is coming. Komui and Reever both suggest that it is Allen. Back at the Ark, Allen pushes Tyki away and his forearm is transformed into a sword handle. As he pulls it out, he mentions that the critical point has been broken. The episode ends with Tyki shocked and Allen wielding the sword, with his left arm gone. | |||

Using his new sword, which resembles the Earl's, Allen intimidates the Noah and escapes from Tyki's vacuum. Lenalee and Chaoji attempt to escape Road's cell, but hurt themselves in the process. Meanwhile, Tyki defends against Allen's Innocence and remembers events from his "white" side and his "black" side. Allen finally breaks through the defenses and cuts Tyki. Thinking he should be dead, Tyki and the others are confused to see he has suffered no apparent damage and yet he feels pain. Allen reveals his purpose is to kill the Noah, but save the human, or "white" side of Tyki Mikk while Tyki feels the pain of the Noah inside him dying. As Road watches in horror, Allen exorcises the Noah from Tyki and the Noah's gray skin and forehead stigmata fade away. After watching her family member exorcised, she stabs Chaoji with her candles and threatens the others in revenge. She prepares to destroy Lavi's mind which is trapped within her dream world. She creates the illusion that his "dead" allies have come back to life and attack him and Lavi realizes that he must fight his way through them to survive. | |||

In Road's dream world, Lavi cuts down his comrades as he tries to ignore their pleas. While he debates his responsibilities as a bookman and his other self he defeated by his illusionary friends and lapse into unconsciousness. Road reveals Lavi was never injured, but went into shock because he believed his friends stabbed him. She releases Lavi, now controlled by his bookman heart, and orders Allen to kill him, otherwise Lenalee and Chaoji will die by her candles. Under Road’s control Lavi attacks Allen who refuses to fight back and instead, stabs Road, but she is uninjured as it is not her true from. Allen is engulfed in Lavi’s Fire Seal flames, but realizes that the heat is not affecting him. The candles surrounding Lenalee and Chaoji begin to melt instead. Lavi regains control of his body and engulfs Road in flame. She still seems uninjured until a blade pierces her body. Back in Road's dream world, Lavi realized that Allen was the true Road. He succeeds in damaging her but he then starts to fade away. | |||

In Road's dream world, Lavi continues to debate with himself about his conflicting roles as an Exorcist a future Bookman. Back in the tower, Lavi is engulf in his own flames, and screaming Lavi's name, Allen manages to save him and the Fire Seal turns into stone. Road breaks out of the stone but is unable to move. Lenalee believes that Allen and Lavi are gone, but they also emerge from a pile of stone. With Allen transformed back to his normal form, his left arm has reappeared. Road starts to laugh hysterically until she bursts into smoke. They head for the exit at the top of the tower, but when they arrive, Allen decides to stay and save Tyki. Suddenly Allen is entangled by a tentacled beast and is pulled down to the floor below. After the dust clears, Allen sees the exit door broken and he watches as Tyki painfully transforms into something terrifying. | |||

Possessing tremendous power and speed, the transformed Tyki is too fast and too powerful for Allen and Lavi who followed to help him. With the door destroyed, there is little hope of finding a way out of the Ark. Despite this, the Exorcists continue to fight back. Tyki grabs Lenalee, but the tower crumbles around them. Chaoji reacts to an Innocence sent by General Tiedoll, lifting the rubble saving his and Lenalee's life temporarily. The fight with Tyki continues, as Allen vows to fight until his life ends. Meanwhile, a group of Skulls, strange beings with skull-like heads, guard the the Akuma Egg, giant blue, translucent, egg-shaped orb used to manufacture Akuma. Then, one of their own arrives and defeats them. | |||

Tyki is gaining momentum while Allen and Lavi are weakening. Meanwhile the rogue Skull approaches the glowing orb and throws one of his own kind into it and reveals that he has been taught by a disciple of the ancient magical arts. Back at the Ark, the battle rages on. A hole opens up under Allen and he falls through, but is he is saved by the rogue Skull who Allen recognizes as his master, General Cross Marian accompanied by Timcanpy. After berating Allen and Lavi for being disheveled, Cross prepares the Grave of Maria and the Magdala Curtain. Tyki is confused and attacks, but Cross counter-attacks with his Judgment bullets and other anti-Akuma weapons. Allen and Lavi realize how much more powerful Cross is than themselves. Just as Cross is landing the final blow, the Millennium Earl interrupts, taking Tyki. More of the Ark crumbles with Lavi and Chaoji falling into the abyss. The Earl and Cross face each other. | |||

The Earl and General Cross share a brief conversation, and when the Earl mentions all of the Exorcists who "disappeared", Allen becomes enraged and attempts to fight the Earl, despite the fact that he is seriously wounded. The Earl comments that Allen's new Innocence is just like his own sword, but after trading a few blows with Allen, he decides to take the unconscious Tyki and escape the crumbling Ark. The General then takes both Allen and Lenalee to the location of the the Akuma Egg, and orders Allen to control the Ark. He sends Allen and Timcampy into the "secret room" of the 14th Noah, where Allen faces a dark apparition in the mirror who calls Timcampy "My Timcampy." Cross tells Allen to play on the white piano in the room, using a mysterious set of symbols projected by Timcampy as the music. Elsewhere the Earl is seen playing a piano in his black Ark with Road, Lero and Lulu Bell, seemingly affected by the reappearance of the 14th Noah. Meanwhile as Allen plays the white piano, the Ark begins to reform itself, reversing its destruction and reviving the Exorcists who perished within it. | |||

Allen manages to repair the Ark, so that it is reconstructed with all the Exorcists who perished within it coming back to life and reunited. However the Noah are nowhere to be seen. Also, the Akuma Egg "factory" was only half downloaded due to General Cross's spell, so it can not function and will not be delivered to the Earl. When Allen and the Exorcists accidentally fall through a bottomless door, Chaoji regains his Innocence in the form of two interlocked bracelets attached to his left hand and saves them. They suddenly realize that General Cross, who is a womanizer, is alone with Lenalee and the unconscious Krory. They hurry back only to discover the General and Lenalee appear to be in a passionate embrace. | |||

Allen and all of his comrades catch up with the Exorcists in Edo and return safely to the HQ with the Ark to a huge welcome. Miranda deactivates her Innocence, making the injuries the Noah inflicted on the Exorcists to reappear. While the Exorcists recover in the hospital of HQ, Bak and other scientists study the Ark's ability to teleport people anywhere in the world. Allen goes into the piano room with Tim and ponders on how the symbols he and Mana created years ago were the song to move the Ark. Elsewhere, the Earl becomes enraged by the fact that the 14th Noah has somehow helped the Exorcists obtain the Ark and the Akuma Egg. | |||

Special Inspector, Malcolm C. Rouvelier convenes an inquest with Komui, Bak, other Branch heads and the four Generals. Rouvelier and his assistant, Howard Link outline all the events that started in Edo, and propose severe punishment for Cross because of his unorthodox handling of his mission to eliminate the Akuma factory, including being out of communication for four years. Because of his success he is forgiven, but Komui and the Exorcists realize that they are only pawns in the war between the Black Order and the Earl. Rouvelier also proposes putting Allen on trial for heresy, because he and Cross clearly have ties with the enemy, and Allen appears to be the successor left by the 14th Noah. Cross is alarmed that Rouvelier knew about the 14th, but is confident that nothing would be turned up in an investigation. Rouvelier orders that Cross is to remain at headquarters and that Howard Link will be assigned to supervise Allen's every movement. | |||

Howard Link greets Allen in the cafeteria, while notifying him that he will be under surveillance. After overhearing this, Lenalee goes to talk to her brother to understand why, and finds him with Inspector Malcolm C. Rouvelier, the man who traumatized her in the past. He informs her that she will also be under observation. Howard tells Allen learns that he is suspected of being related to the 14th Noah and he is banned from having contact with Cross. The Inspector tells Komui that the will of the 14th is continued by multiple people, including General Cross. As Howard follows him, Allen sees the shadowy smiling figure from the piano room again. Later, Allen discovers that the science department of the Order removed the Akuma Egg from the Ark to study it. Hevlaska temporarily removes Lenalee's Innocence for observation because it’s so weak. The Black Order branch heads offer to help with the study of the Egg, but they are rejected by Johnny Gill, a science department junior. He is suddenly stabbed by Branch Head of Oceania, Andrew Nansen who is the Noah Lulu Bell in disguise and then hundreds of Akuma appear behind her. | |||

The Noah Lulu Bell leads her army of Akuma to attack the Lab 5 of the Headquarters, where the Akuma Egg is being studied. The army injures almost the entire science department, preparing to turn them into Skulls; Tapp is the first to be transformed. Allen and Bookman arrive through the Ark just as Reever is about to be the second. Lulu Bell orders the Akuma to hold off the Exorcists until she has retrieved the Egg, throwing Allen immediately into battle. Lenalee and Lavi attempt to reach Allen, but they are stopped by Komui and locked into the infirmary. Lenlee begs Komui to let her go so she can see Hevlaska and re-synchronize with her Innocence. But Komui refuses, saying he cannot lose her. Meanwhile, Allen and Bookman still struggle with the endless army of level 3 Akuma. Lulu Bell opens up a gate, and prepares the Egg for retrieval. | |||

Allen and Bookman are still fighting the Akuma, but Lulu Bell has already secured the Akuma Egg and opened a gate to the Millennium Earl. With nobody to help them, Allen and Bookman struggle to keep up against the hoards of Akuma. Some of the researchers are transformed into Skulls as Bak and the rest of the survivors attempt to make a protective Talisman. Outside, Komui arrives and Rouvelier criticizes him for being slow and suggesting the worst-case scenario. Inside Lab 5, with Bookman defeated and Allen captured, the scientists succeed in making a talisman to save Allen. At that moment, Miranda Lotto, Noise Marie, and the Generals arrive just as the Egg is being transferred and Allen is kidnapped. The assembled Akuma transform into a group of giant Combined Akuma, but the Generals take them down with surprising efficiency. | |||

The Exorcists emerge victorious although many of the staff are dead or dying. Meanwhile the destroyed Akuma start to release poisonous gas. Komui orders the Egg destroyed but Rouvelier wants it kept. Lulu Bell comes back transformed into a liquid form and forces Miranda to stop her time activation so time begins to flow again. Meanwhile, Johnny goes looking for Tapp, who is already a Skull. Tapp does not recognize Johnny and tosses him aside. Johnny is then swallowed up by part of the only remaining Combined Akuma. Lulu Bell captures the Egg and the Generals are unable to stop her or damage the dark matter Egg. With Miranda trapped inside her liquid form Lulu Bell prepares to escape with the Egg. The Generals use their Anti-Akuma weapons against Lulu Bell, despite Miranda being inside her. Suddenly the Egg begins to crumble and break apart and Allen emerges. He recovers Miranda but his Akuma-seeing eye detects something and he hears some ominous childish laughing. | |||

A new Akuma emerges from the remaining Combined Akuma, appearing as a pale pregnant woman with the number 4 on her belly. The Akuma evolves and again tries to absorb Johnny, but the scientists manage to retrieve him and stop the Skulls from taking Bak. The Akuma then attacks the scientists with its tentacles. It appears to die, but gives birth to a Level 4 Akuma, in humanoid form with wings. Allen is stunned at the sight of the Level 4's soul and comments on its terrible state. Seeing his comrades injured, Allen attacks the Level 4 but is unable to harm it and is easily blasted away by a beam. The Level 4 screams loudly, causing Allen to lose synchronization and unable to move. Then, the Level 4 destroys the floor of Lab 5 causing the floor to change into a fiery pit. Fortunately, the people are transported to a safety by General Cross' Maria's Carte Guarde. The Skulls ask to be released from the Talisman, but the Level 4 heartlessly fires at them and looks for humans to kill. It removes the barrier to the lab and enters the headquarters to resume its annihilation. Allen loses consciousness with Howard by his side. | |||

The Level 4 Akuma starts its attack in Central Headquarters. It is about to target Komui as the supervisor but is deflected by a blow from Kanda although his sword breaks. The Finders trap the Akuma in a shield using many talisman together and Hevlaska contacts Komui to take the Innocence from her body and out of headquarters to safety using the Ark. Rouvelier wants the Innocence be used to fight the Akuma but Komui orders everyone to the Asian branch for evacuation. However Rouvelier insists Lenalee synchronize with her Innocence to fight the Akuma, saying that it's her choice, and they head towards Hevlaska with Lavi. When Komui and Kanda go down the elevator to intercept them, the Level 4 attacks them. As Hevlaska tries to force the Innocence into Lenalee's body, the Level 4 suddenly attacks Hevlaska, leaving her seriously injured. Lenalee tries to reach her Innocence but the Level 4 steps on her head and she is unable to move. | |||

Trapped by the Level 4 Akuma, Lenalee recalls her life before the Innocence forced her to live at the Black Tower. Just then, Allen attacks the Akuma from above, using his Innocence to move his badly injured body. This gives Lenalee the chance to reach her Innocence. On seeing Lenalee struggle, Komui recalls how he joined the Black Order to be with her. Lenalee's Innocence turns to a liquid and she drinks it, but then blood pours out of her legs. Allen continues to distract the Akuma with Kanda and Lavi's help. Meanwhile, the Innocence uses Lenalee's blood to materialize into new boots, avoiding the need to become parasitic. She then attacks the Akuma, joining forces with Allen which intensifies their efforts and they end up pushing Allen's sword through the Akuma. | |||

The Level 4 Akuma appears to be defeated so Komui cancels the evacuation. Suddenly the Akuma moves and attacks Allen and the battle is renewed, however, now with the help of the Generals, the Level 4 is finally destroyed. In the aftermath of the battle, rescue teams are dispatched to gather the survivors and they learn that many were protected by Miranda's Time Out and the Generals, but Johnny cries bitterly as Tapp dies and turns to sand. Cross is sent to the Central Office for debriefing while everyone prepares for the relocation of the Black Order's Headquarters. Krory regains consciousness, much to the joy of his friends. As the Exorcists ponder the significance of Lenalee's evolved "Equip Type" Innocence into the "Crystal Type", Allen declares that they must become stronger in order to defeat the Earl. Bookman wonders what the Earl’s real end game is. The scene changes to show that the Noahs are attending a ball. The Earl is shown in the shadows with a humanoid shape, saying that he is making a new Akuma Egg and ponders why he did not kill Allen when Mana died. The end credits show the Exorcists fully recovered and continuing their duties, reunited with their Innocences and sporting new outfits. The post-credits reveal the Earl buying flowers from a poor girl. Allen vows to destroy the Earl. |
