Mahindra World City

Mahindra World City is a massive IT centric Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in India. This development was planned as a one-point destination for residential as well as for international companies aiming at a sustainable urban development space. Together, Mahindra World Cities include Special Economic Zones and Domestic Tariff Areas.

Mahindra World City is a pioneer in the concept of integrated business cities intended to create a smooth balance between Life, Living, and Livelihood.[1] Mahindra World Cities are currently functional at Chennai, Tamil Nadu and Jaipur, Rajasthan.

Mahindra World Cities - Locations

The first Mahindra World City was set up in the year 2002 in Chennai. It presently has over 62 global companies and 33,000 employees.[2][3] Mahindra World City, Chennai is the first functional Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in India. It was followed by Mahindra World City, Jaipur that was set up in the year 2007. Both the integrated business centers are accessible from the nearest metros and include SEZs, Industrial Parks, Retail and Social Infrastructure. The Residential Township within the Chennai facility also houses the premier Mahindra World School, which is established to cater the residents of Mahindra World City primarily.[4]

Mahindra Group is planning to set up another World City in the north part of Chennai soon, for a total investment of Rs 4,000 crore.[5] The Mahindra Group intends to replicate this model of an integrated business city which will include industrial, residential, logistics park, and social infrastructure at Gummidipoondi, Chennai. This facility shall be spread across 1,000 acres with the main focus on Domestic Tariff Area (DTA).[6][7]

Confluence

Confluence is an Annual Event held in Mahindra World City which aims at creating a common platform for International Property Consultants (IPC) fraternity. The intention is to bring them in concert on a single platform for exchanging thoughts, ideas, and opportunities revolving around the industrial and business growth and devise long-lasting business relationships.[8]

Recognition & Awards

The residential and social amenities zone at Mahindra World City, New Chennai designed by M/s HOK, USA, won two international awards for the ‘Mahindra World City’ master plan from the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA).[9]
