Mama Sita's Holding Company Incorporated, was founded by Teresita Reyes (born in 1917 and died in 1998), in the Manila area. This company is sometimes known as Marigold Commodities Corporation. Reyes became known as Mama Sita and the company was named after her. Reyes had an interest in Filipino food and created a business devoted to creating recipes and selling sauce mixes, vinegars and sauces. Reyes and her company became well known in the Philippines and amongst Filipinos living abroad. In 2013, a 10 peso postage stamp was issued in Reyes' memory by the Philippine government.[1][2][3]
At least two Mama Sita cookbooks have been produced. One issued in 1996, Mama Sita's Cookbook, has been offered ever since.[4]The second cookbook, Mama Sita's Homestyle Recipes, was first offered in 2010.[5]
