Marist School (Tagalog: Paaralang Marist) is a Catholic school for boys located in Marikina, Metro Manila, Philippines established by the Marist Brothers in 1964. The school currently holds a level III accreditation from PAASCU and is considered to be the largest educational institution to date in Marikina City.[1] This was the second school founded by the Marist Brothers in the Philippines; the first one was the Notre Dame of Cotabato in Cotabato City in 1948.

History

In 1964, the Marist Brothers of the Schools, or Institutum Fratrum Maristarum a Scholis (FMS), established the Marist School.[2]

The school adopted the Integrated Basic Education (IBED) system in 1998-1999, headed by a school principal and five (5) cluster assistant principals.

Academics

PAASCU Accreditation

Marist School is accredited by PAASCU every five years. Currently Marist has a level III accreditation from PAASCU. The highest possible accreditation for basic education.[3]

Marist School Athletic League

The Marist School Athletic League has been running from its inception in the early 1990s up to the present. The Marist School Athletic League or MSAL is an annual and year-round sport competition. All classes of the same level compete in events such as Volleyball, Basketball, Ultimate Frisbee, Water Polo, Chess, Table Tennis, and Badminton. Classes or sections order their own uniforms bearing their class name. Awards are given out at the August opening ceremony for different categories such as best uniform, best muse, and best banner for each year level.

Sports Facilities

Marist School is the first school in Marikina City to have a swimming pool. It is the only school also in Marikina to have two tennis courts, a track and field oval, a football pitch, a baseball field and seven basketball/volleyball courts—three courts in the High School gym, another court in the Grade School gym and one in the new gymnasium near the field
