Matthew Scharenberg (born 18 September 1995) is a professional Australian rules football player at the Collingwood Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL).

He was recruited by the club with the sixth selection in the 2013 AFL draft. Scharenberg, who was a once touted by Mark Williams as the best schoolboy prospect since Wayne Carey,[1] entered his first pre-season on the sidelines with foot injuries. These injuries restricted him until the latter half of the 2014. He played 5 VFL games before tearing his ACL in a marking contest. Scharenberg made a quick recovery from a knee reconstruction to play 10 VFL games before making his AFL debut in Round 18, 2015, against Melbourne at the MCG as a late inclusion for Tyson Goldsack.
