Mobissimo is a fare aggregator and metasearch engine website based in San Francisco, California. It allows consumers to compare prices on flights, hotels, and car rentals. It aggregates the results from over 180 online travel agencies, consolidators, and ticket vendors to show a side-by-side comparison of the best deals found on the web. It then redirects the visitor to the site with the best rates. The company offers country-specific websites in North America, Brazil, Mexico, France, Italy, Poland, Spain, Germany, the UK, India and Japan.[2]
History
The site was founded in 2004 with one million USD of seed financing from Benhamou Global Ventures, Cambrian Ventures and Index Ventures.
Media
Mobissimo initially garnered attention in the media for its low fares and groundbreaking approach to travel booking. In 2010, the Chicago Tribune quoted it as one of the “3 Leading Search Engines” for travel.[3] It was also said to “out execute” their main competitor, Kayak, by TechCrunch.[4]
