Montgomery High School (MOH) is a four-year (grade levels 9-12) public high school located in the city of San Diego, California. It opened in 1970 and is situated today in Otay Mesa. Montgomery High School serves more than 2,500 students, and is named after pioneer aviator John J. Montgomery, who made the first manned glider flight in U.S. history from a hill in the area where the school is located.

Prior to a 1986 annexation claim, the school was originally located in the city of Chula Vista. The city boundary dispute was finalized in 2006 and Montgomery High School officially became located in San Diego city limits in July 2006.

School Upgrades

Montgomery High recently underwent extensive renovations, with classrooms being gutted and renovated in 2006 by Turner Construction. In 2009-2010 more construction work began and a new synthetic field turf was installed at the school's stadium, along with new concrete work. In 2011, a new office, classrooms, and library was constructed all in one two-story building in front of campus. Other work was performed in 2011 into early 2012 under Prop O - including renovating the old library, and a new landscaping and quad area. In 2014, More extensive renovation were brought up with a new two-story building, including a new administration office and classrooms on the second floor. A new gymnasium was also built to replace the original gym.

SGI Construction Management retained as Program Manager.

Academics

Montgomery High School offers a variety of Academics College Prep Classes and other Programs within the school. They are listed below:

AOJ (Administration of Justice Program) is a program available to MOH Students who are interested in pursuing a career in law enforcement and the criminal justices system. This program is a class started in the student's sophomore year, ending in there senior year. The Program is supported by the San Diego Police Department

AVID (Advancement via Individual Determination) It is an ACADEMIC ELECTIVE designed to both prepare (ensure that each AVID student enrolls in the required “a-g” coursework and take the tests for college acceptance) and ready (teach and instill in each AVID student the necessary academic and social skills) to maintain enrollment at the university.
