Mount Acton

Mount Acton (70°58′S 63°42′W / 70.967°S 63.700°W / -70.967; -63.700Coordinates: 70°58′S 63°42′W / 70.967°S 63.700°W / -70.967; -63.700) is the high, dominant peak of the west ridge of the Welch Mountains in Palmer Land. Mapped by United States Geological Survey (USGS) in 1974. Named by Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) for Commander William Acton, U.S. Navy, Operations Officer on the staff of the Commander, U.S. Naval Support Force, Antarctica, 196768, and Executive Officer, 196869.
