MovieTowne is a privately owned Cineplex chain in Trinidad and Tobago, headquartered in the city of Port of Spain. It is the nation's largest cinema chain with four locations throughout the country; Port of Spain, Chaguanas, San Fernando and Lowlands,Tobago. A new development is currently being worked on and is scheduled to open in Guyana in 2017, the first location outside of Trinidad and Tobago. MovieTowne was founded in November 2002 by local entrepreneur Derek Chin with support from three other businessmen; Ernesto Abraham, Pierpont Scott and Winfield Scott who all sit on the Company's Board.

MovieTowne is more than just movies, it has become a popular hot spot for dining, shopping, and live entertainment for local, regional and international visitors. MovieTowne's flagship location currently has over 10 Cinema screens, 2 VIP Platinum Cinema and Lounge, a shopping complex, and world famous restaurants; Ruby Tuesdays, Texas de Brazil, video arcades, a Banquet and Conference Centre, an outdoor dining and entertainment area known as Fiesta Plaza and a Recreational Park with several rides and attractions known as Carousel Park. The complex is open 7 days a week and is open 363 days a year.

Expansion

In 2013, work began in one of Guyana's fastest growing urban areas, known as Turkeyen, with MovieTowne being scheduled to open in 2017. The project is estimated to cost $30 Million US and is expected to create between 500 - 800 new job opportunities. MovieTowne Guyana will accommodate 175,000 sq. ft. of retail, dining and entertainment space with 1800 cinema seats in eight screens. Massy Stores, Trinidad’s leading supermarket chain will be one of the retail shops in MovieTowne Guyana.[1]

MovieTowne is also expanding to San Fernando with an estimated project cost of $15 Million US. where it will accommodate retail and entertainment space with eight screens, a VIP Platinum Cinema and Lounge, restaurants, video arcades and a live entertainment arena. MovieTowne San Fernando will be the first establishment of this brand in the southern part of Trinidad and also the fourth location in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.[2]
