Starting his career in Perak youth teams, he was then transferred to Malaysia national youth setup and played in Harimau Muda B squad, at that time playing in the Singapore's S.League. In 2015, he played for FAM League team Melaka United and helped the team in their successful quest for promotion to 2016 Malaysia Premier League.[3]

Hafizul then returned to Perak in the 2016 season, and made his debut for Perak in a Malaysia Super League match, a 0-0 draw with Kelantan on January 2016.[4] Due to injury to regular goalkeeper Zamir Selamat, Hafizul has been trusted in goal for much of 2016 season. His performances winning plaudits from coaches and media, and was included in FourFourTwo Malaysia magazine's Super League Team of the Month for February.[5]
