Krasnodar is both a krai and a city within it, in Russia. Grigoriy Ponomarenko is the best-known composer from Krasnodar, which has also produced the State Cossack Choir, led by laureate of the state prize of Russia, V. G. Zakharchenko. The world-renowned operatic soprano Anna Netrebko also comes from Krasnodar.
