Nanasipau'u, (née Nanasipauʻu Vaea; born 8 March 1954) is the Queen consort of Tupou VI (and his second cousin),[2] who ascended the throne as the King of Tonga in 2012.
Early life
Hon. Nanasipauʻu Vaea is the daughter of the Baron Vaea, a former Prime Minister of Tonga from 1991 to 2000, and Baroness Tuputupu Vaea.[3] She has six siblings:
- Dowager Lady Luseane Luani, born Hon. Luseane Vaea (widow of Sione Laumanuʻuli Luani The Late Noble Luani).
- ʻAlipate Tuʻivanuavou, Lord Vaea who married the sister of the late Lord Fakafānua, Hon. Si'atukimoana Fakafānua Vaea, The Honourable Lady Vaea. She is the paternal aunt of Crown Princess Sinaitakala.
- Lady ʻAmelia Luoluafetuʻu, born Hon. ʻAmelia Luoluafetuʻu Vaea (former-wife of The Noble Lasike).
- Hon. Cassandra Vaea, (formerly HSH Cassandra Tuku'aho) former-wife of Prince Tuipelehake (formerly Hon. Viliami Sione Ngu Takeivulai Tuku'aho) son the late HSH Tu'ipelehake (Mailefihi) and his former wife Mele Vikatolia Faletau.
- Late Hon. Moimoikimofuta Kaifahina Vaea.
- Late Hon. Ratu Edward Palalaika 'a Tungi Vaea.[3]
Marriage
She was married at the Chapel Royal in Nukuʻalofa on 11 December 1982 to Tupou VI and the couple have three children:[4]
- Princess Lātūfuipeka Tukuʻaho - ʻAngelika Lātūfuipeka Halaʻevalu Mataʻaho Napuaʻokalani Tukuʻaho (17 November 1983).
She followed her father's steps to be the current High Commissioner to Australia. - Tupoutoʻa ʻUlukalala - Siaosi Manumataongo ʻAlaivahamamaʻo ʻAhoʻeitu Konstantin Tukuʻaho (17 September 1985, Nukuʻalofa).
He married on 12 July 2012 the Hon. Sinaitakala Fakafanua, daughter of late High Chief Kinikinilau Fakafanua and Princess Ofeina, Lady Fakafanua, both King Tupou VI's first cousins.[5] They have a son and a daughter:- Prince Taufaʻahau Manumataongo - Taufaʻahau Manumataongo (born 10 May 2013, Auckland).
- Princess Halaevalu Mata'aho (born 12 July 2014, Auckland).
- Prince Ata - Viliami ʻUnuaki-ʻo-Tonga Mumui Lalaka-Mo-e-ʻEiki Tukuʻaho (Nukuʻalofa, 27 April 1988).
