All TD series engines were overhead valve four-cylinder engines, except the TD42 which was a six-cylinder.

TD23

The TD23 measures 2.3 L (2289cc) with a pre-combustion chamber.

It is common in pre-1990 Nissan Navara D21 1987-1992 and industrial applications such as trailer swinglifters and container fridge motors. Also used in 1986-1988 Nissan Homy and Nissan Caravan series E24. Used in Nissan Atlas 1 ton trucks from 1986 to 1995

TD25

The TD25 measures 2.5 L (2488cc)

TD27 Turbo

A turbocharged version of the TD27 was fitted to post 1991 Nissan Terrano D21 5-door wagons and post 1991 Nissan Navara UTE D21. Also used as the diesel option in Nissan Homy and Caravan vans.

This engine was also fitted to LTI's Fairway series and the TX1 series .

The TD42 measures 4.2 L (4169 cc). It is an analog fuel-injected 6-cylinder diesel engine with a pre-combustion chamber.

TD42 Turbocharged

A turbocharged version is available (code TD42T1, produces 145 PS at 4,000 rpm) and in later versions an intercooler was fitted to stabilise intake temperatures. Another option is the TD42Ti with semi-electronic fuel injection, a basic system that only controlled the fuel pump, while retaining the mechanical fuel injectors of the previous engines.
