Office of the Senior Advisor for Civil Society and Emerging Democracies
In October 2010, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton created the Office of the Senior Advisor for Civil Society and Emerging Democracies, and appointed Tomicah Tillemann to lead its work. In coordination with other State Department bureaus, the office is responsible for developing and implementing the Secretary of State's civil society agenda and strengthen emerging democracies.[1] The office reports directly to the Secretary of State.
