Paria is a village situated near Vapi in Valsad District, Gujarat. India. The town of Udwada, 5 kilometers (3.1 mi) away from Paria, has a railway station which connects Paria to Mumbai and western Gujarat.

Paria is under the Jyoti-Gram project of the Gujarat government.

Demographics

Most Paria residents follow Hinduism, The population is around 9000 and of that the Dhodia Patel community form 97 per cent. The remainder are Brahmins, Desai Chhodiya, Halpati, Koli Patel, Muslim, Jains, and Marvadis . Many residents work in Vapi, Daman, and Silvasa.

There are four temples in the village:

The village is divided into various sectors (called vaads or fadiyas), one for each community. E.g.: Desai Vaad, Suthar Vaad, Mahyavanshi Fadiya etc.

The village has a market of considerable size and includes a few medical shops, general stores etc. There are also 3-4 doctors' clinics. A few houses have computers with broadband connection, while many houses have TV sets.

Agriculture

Most of the houses in Paria are Pucca houses, with rice and sugarcane the major crops cultivated. The villagers possess cattle such as cow, buffalo, and bullocks.

Culture

Gujarat include the Kite Festival, Modhera Dance Festival, Rann Festival, Bhavanath Fair, Diwali, Holi, Chitra Vichitra Fair, Dang Durbar, Janmashthami, Bhadra Purnima, Tarnetar Fair, Navratri festival, Shamlaji Fair, Vautha Nomelo fair, Somnath Fair, etc. The people perform various art forms as part of celebrating the festivals. The popular dance forms performed by the villagers include Ras dance, Dandia or stick dance, garba dance (Lasya Nritya), etc. The people also perform a folk drama named 'bhavai' during the festivals.

People of Paria is VERY KIND & Helpful. They are very Hardworking & Honest. Other Community People is also settled in Paria.
