Club career

After a good season with 1. FC Köln in the 1999–2000 2. Bundesliga, Ojigwe moved to Champions League participant and local rival Bayer 04 Leverkusen. The transfer fee was believed to be DM 3,5 million (about €1,75 million) and had been paid to 1. FC Kaiserslautern who only had loaned Ojigwe to Köln.[2] On the occasion of the transfer there had been a huge public argument between then Köln and Leverkusen managers, Johannes Linßen and Reiner Calmund.[3]
