Ratha Sapthami (ರಥಸಪ್ತಮಿ) is a 1986 Indian-Kannada romance musical film directed by M. S. Rajashekar and produced by S. A. Govindaraj. The film starred Shivarajkumar in his second venture after Anand and debutant actress Asha Rani and playwright Parvathavani in the lead roles.[1] The film had a musical score composed by Upendra Kumar while the lyrics, screenplay and dialogues were written by Chi. Udaya Shankar. P. Vasu was co-writer of this movie.[2] [3] The movie is based on Kannada novel of same name by Vidyullatha Sasanoor.

The film opened on 12 December 1986 and was declared a musical blockbuster.Co-screen play writer of this movie P. Vasu directed a thematically similar movie called Love Birds in 1996 in Tamil. The storyline of Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai also was similar to that of Ratha Sapthami.
