"Real in Rio" is a 2011 song written by Sérgio Mendes, Carlinhos Brown, and Siedah Garrett for the Blue Sky Studios film Rio.[1]
Context
In the film, "Real in Rio" is divided in two parts. The first part is played in the first scene and sung by many birds, but is interrupted when poachers come to capture all the birds. The second part is sung not only by the same group of birds earlier, but also by Blu, Jewel, their three chicks, Pedro, Nico and Rafael on the second-to-last scene of the film. On the soundtrack, the song is complete on one track.
Reception
The song was nominated for Best Original Song category at the 84th Academy Awards, but it lost to "Man or Muppet" from The Muppets.[2]
