Redwan Hussein

Redwan Hussien Rameto (Ge'ez: ሬድዋን ሁሴን ራመቶ) (born 1971) is an Ethiopian politician, current member of parliament and minister of youth and sports.

Early life

Redwan was born in September 22, 1971 in Siltie Zone], Azernet Berebere Woreda, Derawt and Semeredin Kebele.

Education

Redwan received his BSC in Biology from the Addis Ababa University in 1995. And later received MA in Organizational Leadership form AZUSA Pacific University, California, United States in 2006.

After his graduation, Redwan taught Biology at senior secondary schools including Jinka Secondary school in south Omo zone and Awolia in Addis Ababa.(1996-2000)

Political career

Redwan Hussien, widely known as an accomplished public speaker, is currently serving as Minister of Youth and Sports. Before taking up his new position, he served in various higher government positions in Federal and regional offices:

- Minister, Government Communication Affairs Office (2013-2015)

- Head of EPRDF Secretariat and Public Mobilization and Participation advisor to the late prime minister, Meles Zenawi.

- Executive Committee Member of EPRDF (2006 up to now).

- Executive Committee member of South Ethiopia People Democratic Movement (SEPDM). (2004 up to now)

- Head, Addis Ababa EPRDF Office and Public Relations Advisor to the Mayor of Addis Ababa City Administration, With the Rank of Deputy Mayor (2011-2013)
