René Thomas (biologist)

René Thomas (Ixelles, 14 May 1928) is a Belgian scientist, and professor at the Center for Nonlinear Phenomena and Complex Systems of the Universite Libre de Bruxelles. In 1975, he was awarded the Francqui Prize on Biological and Medical Sciences for his work on molecular biology.

Works

The discrete model of biological regulatory networks presented by Thomas[1] has been receiving increasing attention as an alternative to traditional ODE (continuous) modeling of the regulatory networks.[2][3]

His name has become attached to a strange attractor, Thomas' cyclically symmetric attractor.[4]
