Rona Mackay is a Scottish National Party (SNP) politician who has been the Member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP) for Strathkelvin and Bearsden since the election in May 2016.
Background
She has worked as a journalist and author.[1]
Political career
She worked as a Parliamentary assistant to Gil Paterson, the SNP MSP for Milngavie and Clydebank.[1] Mackay was announced as a SNP candidate for the Strathkelvin and Bearsden seat in August 2015.[1]
On 6 May Mackay was elected with a majority of 8,100 votes.[2] Mackay was selected for the Scottish Parliament's justice committee and elected its deputy convener in June.[3] She is also a member of the public petitions committee.[4]
