Sam Lam Lit Sing (born December 30, 1988) is a Canadian professional soccer player.

Personal life

Born in Hong Kong, Sing's father is from Hong Kong and his mother is Dutch. Sam is eligible as a local player in Hong Kong. His brother is Matt Lam, who is a professional soccer player who currently plays for Kitchee SC in Hong Kong as a local player.

Career

University and College

Lam played college soccer at Concordia University College of Alberta as well as the University of Alberta for the Golden Bears being nominated as an ALL-CANADIAN for both schools and winning ALL-CANADIAN in the CCAA. Lam dominated the Canada west in his final year at the UofA being back to back player of the week for the UofA in Canada west and CIS. He also finished the season as point leader in Canada West.[1][2][3][4]

Professional

2004/06 – National Team Training program 2006 – Volendam U19’s (Netherlands) Trial with Seattle Sounders FC of Major League Soccer, Edmonton Drillers in the Canadian Major Indoor Soccer League in 2008, signed by FC Edmonton of the new North American Soccer League in 2011.

After trials as a youth in Europe with some top clubs in England and the Netherlands came back to Canada to attend the University of Alberta in the CIS league where he was the youngest starter for the team at 17 years old challenging his physical game. After the UofA season Lam went to Holland and played with the club Volendam FC U19 team. From there he went to an open trial and was selected to go on to a trial/reality show with the Seattle Sounders FC of Major League Soccer and was one of the top 10 finalists in the recent Seattle Sounders SuperSearch where close to 1000 players tried out. Lam played for the Edmonton Drillers Professional indoor soccer team in the PASL/CMISL league as one of the team leaders in scoring and points. He then attended Concordia University College of Alberta in 2009 playing in the ACAC and won All-Canadian in that year. He then was selected to play with FC Edmonton in the exhibition season. After the season with Fc Edmonton he attended the University of Alberta and had a dominating season leading the league in points winning First team all-Canadian again. He then signed a professional contract and played with FC Edmonton. [5] He made his professional debut in the team's first competitive game on April 9, 2011, a 2-1 victory over the Fort Lauderdale Strikers.[6][7][8][9][10]
