Scott John Pelluer (born April 26, 1959 in Yakima, Washington) is a former American football linebacker in the National Football League for the New Orleans Saints.

Early years

Pelluer attended Mead High School, before transferring to Interlake High School as a junior.

He accepted a scholarship from Washington State University, where he became a four-year starter at defensive end and outside linebacker. As a junior he registered 71 tackles, 3 sacks (led the team) and 2 interceptions. As a senior he tallied 12 sacks (a school record at the time).[1]

He finished his college career with 240 tackles (180 solo) and 19 sacks, at the time ranking as the school career sack leader and one of the top career tacklers.[2]

Professional career

Dallas Cowboys

Pelluer was selected in the fourth round (91st overall) of the 1981 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys. He was waived on August 3.[3]

New Orleans Saints

On September 1, 1981, he was signed as a free agent by the New Orleans Saints[4]

On August 19, 1986, he was placed on the injured reserve list.[5] He was released the next year before the start of training camp.[6]

Personal life

His sons, Tyler Pelluer played for the Montana Grizzlies, Cooper Pelluer was a member of the Washington Huskies and Peyton Pelluer played for the Washington State Cougars. His father Arnie Pelluer, also was a standout at Washington State, from 1953-55. His brother Steve was the starting quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys, and his youngest brother Arnie played linebacker at Stanford University from 1984-87.[7]

Pelluer has served as an assistant football coach at Boise State, Northern Arizona, Washington and Arizona.
