Shenzhen Capital Group
Shenzhen Capital Group, formerly known as Shenzhen Venture Capital is a Chinese private equity firm.
Founded in 1999, Shenzhen Capital Group is a premier state-controlled venture capital and private equity firm in China.[1] Shareholders include the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC) and several other state-owned firms.
Geographically, Shenzhen Capital Group invests 30% in Shenzhen and Guangdong and 70% around the rest of China. As of July 2015, the firm has made about 600 investments with over 100 IPOs from its portfolio. In 2007 the firm made a total of $150 million into 43 new investments and saw 10 IPOs.
The firm has an independent Risk Management Department which provides a second due-diligence opinion on each investment case. The firm's Investment Committee has 15 members and meets weekly.
Shenzhen Capital Group has over 190 employees and 35 PhDs. Nearly 100% of the investment managers have a master's degree or higher. Among them, 40% have doctoral or double masters qualification, 30% have international experience. Their investment managers typically have 2–11 years experience in venture capital project management, with an average of more than 12 years of industry experience. The company manages over 40 government backed funds and has offices in over 12 Chinese cities.
Forbes magazine has named Shenzhen Capital Group the No.1 ranked venture Capital in China for 2011, 2012, and 2013. Zero2ipo.com has named venture capital firm in China as No.1 in 2008, 2009, and 2010.
In 2010, SCGC invested $370m into 69 deals and had 24 IPOs.
For the first half of 2010, 18% of the venture capital backed IPOs in China were invested by Shenzhen Capital Group (SCGC). For 2009, SCGC represented 13% of the overseas IPOs and 13.5% of domestic A-Share IPOs for the venture capital industry in China. On China's newest stock board, the ChiNext or Nasdaq of China, 10% of the listed companies were invested by SCGC.
