Siemyśl [ˈɕemɨɕl] (German Simötzel) is a village in Kołobrzeg County, West Pomeranian Voivodeship, in north-western Poland. It is the seat of the gmina (administrative district) called Gmina Siemyśl.[1] It lies approximately 16 kilometres (10 mi) south of Kołobrzeg and 93 km (58 mi) north-east of the regional capital Szczecin.
Before 1945 the area was part of Germany. Following World War II the native German populace was expelled and replaced by Poles. For the history of the region, see History of Pomerania.
