Slade Alive, Vol. 2 is a live album by the British rock group Slade. It was released 27 October 1978 and did not enter the charts.[1] According to album notes, the album was recorded on tour in U.S.A. (Autumn 1976) and U.K. (Spring 1977).[2]
There were also plans to release Be (Stand Up!, Stand Up!) as a single, but it never eventuated due to the steady decline in the group's fortunes.
Background
After the success of 1972's Slade Alive! which peaked at #2 in the UK for a total of 58 weeks, a sequel was inevitable. However, by the time volume 2 hit the racks in November 1978, the band's commercial success was coming to an end. Slade had released nine albums since forming as well as spending considerable time and money on attempting to repeat their British success in America. The band failed to achieve success and their prolonged absence had a negative effect on their popularity in Britain.
Volume 2 was recorded from American concert performances in the autumn of 1976 as well as British dates the following spring. But despite being a heavy rock tour de force that captured the band at what many fans now regard as their peak and included many hit singles, it suffered the ignominy of failing to chart in Britain.[3]

Allmusic.com wrote "Slade Alive, Vol. 2, like all live Slade, is searing. Unfortunately, it was released into a void in 1978. Now well past having a U.S. record deal, and with no one in England really interested, Vol. 2 came out on Barn, not exactly a major player in the record business. The album is excellent, both in terms of performance and sound quality. They also did a great job of selecting material for this disc."[7]
