"Soledad" is a song by Irish boy band Westlife, taken from their second studio album Coast to Coast, released in 2000. The song is written by Rami Yacoub, Andreas Carlsson and K. C. Porter. Although it was not choose to be released as a single, critics and audiences around the world is praised the song as "one of Westlife's best song ever".[1]

Composition

The title of the song is based on Spanish word: "Soledad", it means "Loneliness" in English. It described the loneliness of a boy who miss his girlfriend/lover and how much he miss her, it is unclear the girl is dead or she left him for someone else, but the song describes the feeling of the boy who lost his lover, and he hopes that one day, he will get the love again, but the song is still describes how painful he faced with.[2]

The song is sung by Westlife's 3 lead vocals. Shane sang the first chorus, Brian sang the second, and Mark sang the third, as the "Traditional" of many Westlife songs when Brian still in the group. The song is the track 10 in the album, which sold over 1.8 million copies in the United Kingdom alone.

Reception

The song is popular all over the world, although it just a track from an album, and not getting much promotion from the band. It popular especially in Asia, Europe, and Oceania. In Asia, especially in South East Asia, the song is played many times on radio since its release, even when the band broke up in 2012. It is listed as one of Westlife's best songs along with the band's singles.
