Stagecoach in Hastings, part of Stagecoach South East but is marketed as part of Stagecoach in East Sussex and have been operating in the Hastings area for over seven years since their takeover of Hastings & District. Over the last year, passenger numbers have increased by about 5%. Stagecoach say this is because of continued investment, the introduction of new products and services and improving current products and services. All the improvements are in partnership with Hastings Borough Council and East Sussex County Council. Most of the company's routes are run with low-floor, easy access vehicles.

History

On 22nd January 2012, 11 new Alexander Dennis Enviro400 bodied Scania N230UD's were introduced on The Wave 99 that runs between Hastings and Eastbourne via Bexhill and Pevensey Bay.[1]

On Thursday 19 April 2012, 23 new Alexander Dennis Enviro200 Dart's were introduced on the local Hastings Arrow routes.[2]

From 26 April 2015, Hasting saw a major reconstruction of its bus services. Route 2 was extended from Tenterden to Hastings Rail Station to replace routes 340 and 341. The Wave 100 and 101 also changed with buses serving Hasting every 30 minutes from Kent. The 101 was routed via Fairlight from Rye to replace route 344. Hastings Arrows Sunday evening service was slightly reduced due to cut of funding from East Sussex County Council.[3]

Routes

Stagecoach in Hastings operate a mixture of short and long distance routes. The main town routes are branded as part of the 'Hastings Arrows', operated by 23 Enviro 200 Darts delivered in Spring 2012. Stagecoach in Hastings also run long distance routes to Eastbourne and to Folkestone and Dover. These routes, (99, 100, 101 and 102) are branded as part of 'The Wave'. The Wave 99, which runs from Hastings to Eastbourne, is run jointly with Stagecoach in Eastbourne, using 11 Scania N230UD Enviro 400's, which were delivered in late 2011 and received dedicated branding for the route. The Wave 100, 101, 102 runs between Hastings, Folkestone and Dover. These routes are run jointly with Stagecoach in East Kent, and are also run by branded Scania Enviro 400's delivered in 2009. Other long distance routes includes the 340/1/2/3/4/7/9. These routes connect smaller towns and villages to Hastings, and, although now not advertised on buses, are run under East Sussex County Council's 'Rider' scheme. Another long distance route that they received a few years ago is the 254/304/305, which was previously run by Countryliner Of Uckfield. Route 304 runs from Hastings - Battle - Whatlington - Robertsbridge - Hawkhurst. Route 305 is similar but does not run via Whatlington. Routes 304/305 then continue as a 254 from Hawkhurst - Flimwell - Ticehurst - Wadhurst - Frant & finally Tunbridge Wells. They also operate multiple school services, both in the town and the surrounding area. This includes 357/359/384/70/71/72/73/74/75/76.
