The Essential Jimi Hendrix Volume Two, released a year after Volume 1 in 1979, is a continuation of the greatest hits by Jimi Hendrix. When released on CD, both volumes were released together as a double-CD package.
The LP also contained a 7" 33 1⁄3 RPM one-sided EP of The Jimi Hendrix Experience performing the song "Gloria".
