The Finally Light Bulb is a Light bulb manufacturing company based in Boston, USA. The company is known for manufacturing bulbs based on Acandescence technology rather on the traditional Incandescent light bulb technology.[1][2][3][4]

History

John Goscha launched the company in 2013 with the former heads of research from General Electric and Osram Sylvania in Woburn Massachusetts after he left his previous startup IdeaPaint.[5] The company moved its headquarters to Boston Massachusetts.[6][7][8]

Funding

The company has raised $34.2 million since its founding,[9] in September 2014, it raised $15million in Series B funding.[10] Its investors include members of Reebok founder Paul Fireman's family.[8]

Features & technology

The company’s light bulbs are based on a proprietary miniaturized implementation of induction.[11] An electromagnet creates plasma via an electromagnetic field inside a glass bulb coated in phosphor.[12] The plasma emits UV light which is converted to visible white light by the phosphors on the inside of the glass bulb.[13][14][15][16]

The bulbs come in A19 and A21 sizes with 60W and 100W wattage replacement.[14]
