Vithalwadi is a town in Thane district. It is a railway station on the Central line of the Mumbai Suburban Railway network.
Vithalwadi is the name given by the people living there decades ago as there was Wadi (farm land) and a temple of [Vitthala] (God). People there are now more literate as compared to years ago.
The area consists of Hanuman Mandir Chawl (2 minutes from Vithalwadi station) which was settled in the mid-1970s by the people residing there at present. There is a cemetery present in Vithalawadi. There is the old Hanuman Mandir which is almost 50 years old. People of all religions and castes are settled here.
Recent development
Development of Vithalwadi is going very rapidly. Recently lots of areas in Vithalwadi is divided into Wards for fast development and for Municipal Corporation Elections. There are many projects for building towers; some are completed and some are in process. One 13-floor tower is built in east of Vithalwadi which is the highest building in Vithalwadi. Flats are for sale at a rate of Rs.4000–5000 per square foot.
There is a sai baba mandir which is also famous here.
