Vivien Keszthelyi (born 7 December 2000,[1] Debrecen –) is a Hungarian racing driver, currently the youngest female racing driver in the world.[2] She began competing in adult competitions at age 13.[3] She is an official member of Audi Sport racing academy.[4][5]

Career

Unlike many other drivers, Keszthelyi didn’t train from early childhood, had never taken part in races nor did she have any experience with cars in general.[6] She started racing in the Touring Car category. Her first international race at Hungaroring brought her first place in the female rating, second place among juniors and third place among seniors.[7] At her first race of OXXO Motorsport she was the fastest female competitor at Ko-Mi Cup, and finished in 4th place in the junior category. This was her 5th time sitting in a race car.[7]

In 2014, Keszthelyi competed in the Swift Cup Europe series with a special license. In the junior category she finished 3rd and in 6th place overall.[8] Suzuki Cup Austria's promoter invited her to a race, where she finished 4th in the adult men's field.[9] In 2015, she competed in the Swift Cup Europe series, finishing 3rd overall, 2nd in junior and 1st in ladies.[10]

In 2016, Keszthelyi competes in the national championship of FIA Central European Zone Trophy. She started the first racing weekend with two podiums.[11][12] On the last weekend of June she achieved her 50th podium finish on her 50th race after she has won all three races in her category and finished twice 2nd and once 3rd overall[13] In August she won twice in her category on the Slovakiaring and finished twice on the 2nd place in overall, moreover she sensationally won the endurance race.[14][15][16] In September she won the two sprint races in her category and in overall, and had the fastest laps on these races on the Masaryk Circuit in Brno. On the endurance race she won in her category and finished 2nd overall. With these results she won the Hungarian championship title with three races left from the season.[17] On the season ending weekend at Hungaroring she won all three sprint races and the endurance race in D-2000 category.[18] With this she achieved her 60th podium finish on her 60th race and among them there are 25 wins.[19]

Personal life

Keszthelyi is a personal sponsor of Hungarian National Committee for UNICEF and the sport ambassador of Smile Foundation (Mosoly Alapítvány).[20] She adopted a white tiger and a panda at WWF to call attention to the endangered animal species.[21]
