Waisa

Waisa is one of the 84 villages of Chhachh Valley, a geographical region in the northern section of Attock District which is East of Peshawar and west of Islamabad.

History

The historical village dating back to the 1800s, at the time when it was under the Afghan rule of Shah Mahmood Durrani. Waisa originated from the founder Awais Khan who was nicknamed 'Waisa Khan'. Mohammed Awais Khan originated from Afghanistan. In an authentic District Attock document dating back to 1862 it is recorded that Mohammad Awais Khan founded the village Waisa. This was at the time of Dost Mohammad Khan who was the ruler of Afghanistan at the time.

Geography

This abundant village is geographically situated in the Attock District within one mile of river Indus of the south side. Waisa neighbour the villages Kamalpur Moosa towards the east, Tajak towards the southern side, Shadi Khan towards west and Sirka Village at the north west. Capital of Pakistan 'Islamabad' is situated 60 miles towards the east of Waisa.

Waisa people

The majority population of Waisa village are from Pashtun origin, who speak Pushto language, which is the nationalized language in Afghanistan. The remainder of the population speak Hindko, a dialect of western Punjab and not dissimilar to Punjabi. The Pashtuns living in Waisa's ancestors are known to be originated from Afghanistan therefore they all share the sheer qualities such as faithfulness, humbleness, hospitality and respect, which are uniquely common in Pashtuns. Pashtuns are revered for their vicious fighting ability in ancient times and more recently for their much advancement in education, culture, and society. The Hindko people are the indigenous people of Waisa. They are in involved in all aspects of the community. The people of Waisa are extremely hospitable and generous. They proudly uphold the common codes of the Pashtunwali, honour, dignity, friendship with humbleness. The majority of the Hindko speaking people are Pathans as well but they no longer speak Hindko apart from the language difference the share the same values.
