William F. Burghardt was the seventh head football coach for the North Carolina Central University Eagles located in Durham, North Carolina and he held that position for five seasons, from 1937 until 1941. His coaching record at North Carolina Central was 22 wins, 17 losses, and 4 ties. As of the conclusion of the 2007 season, this ranks him seventh at North Carolina Central in total wins and eighth at North Carolina Central in winning percentage (.558).[1]
