Wołowo [vɔˈwɔvɔ] (German: Wohlau) is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Lelkowo, within Braniewo County, Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, in northern Poland, close to the border with the Kaliningrad Oblast of Russia.[1] It lies approximately 23 kilometres (14 mi) east of Braniewo and 64 km (40 mi) north of the regional capital Olsztyn.
Before 1945 the area was part of Germany (East Prussia). Following World War II the native German populace was expelled and replaced by Poles.
