"X Gon' Give It to Ya" is a song by American hip hop recording artist DMX, released as the lead single from the soundtrack Cradle 2 the Grave. The song also appeared as a hidden track on DMX's greatest hits album, The Definition of X: The Pick of the Litter. It was written by DMX and produced by co-soundtrack organizer Shatek.[1]
Commercial performance
The song found success on the charts, peaking at number 60 on the Billboard Hot 100, number 30 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and number 13 on the Hot Rap Songs. "X Gon' Give It to Ya" later saw a resurgence in popularity following its inclusion in the 2016 film Deadpool, along with prominent spots in its marketing campaign. Following the movie's release, the song bested its 2003 performance on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart with a peak position of number 23, rose 403 percent in sales with 26,000 downloads, and rose 104 percent in streams to 2.6 million US clicks.[2] As of March 2016, the single had sold over 431,000 copies in the US.[3]
In popular culture
- The song was featured in the 2003 video game Def Jam Vendetta, in which DMX is also a character.[1]
- "X Gon' Give It to Ya" has been used as the walk-up song of San Diego Padres outfielder Xavier Nady and Boston Red Sox infielder Xander Bogaerts,[1] as well as the walkout song of MMA fighter Georges St-Pierre.[4]
- The song was featured in the 9th episode of the Adult Swim television show Rick and Morty.[1]
- The song was featured in the 2016 Marvel Comics movie Deadpool, and appears on its official soundtrack.[2]
- The song was featured on the soundtrack of the 2016 video game Forza Horizon 3.[5]
