Zoltán Szabadka

Zoltán Szabadka is an active member of the open source software community, and a data compression researcher. He is the co-inventor of the Brotli Compression Algorithm, a new general purpose compression algorithm.[1]

Other software tools that Szabadka has developed include an image compression tool[2] to reduce colors to fit a small palette of colors, such as index-color WebP lossless, PNG or GIF images.

As of December 2015, Szabadka works at Google, working in the Zürich office since 2007. He is an active maintainer of the Brotli compression algorithm. Before his Google employment he studied biological and clinical data mining, protein shape synthesis, and pure mathematics. His Ph.D. thesis is about rigidity of graphs.[3]
