The 2001 Malaysia Premier League 2 season is the fourth season of Malaysia Premier League 2. A total of 12 teams participated in the season.[1]

Sabah and Brunei were relegated from Malaysia Premier League 1 while Kedah JKR and PDRM were promoted from Malaysia FAM League to a now increased total number of teams competing in the league from ten to become 12 teams.[1]

The season kicked off on 2 April 2001.[1] Johor FC won the title and was promoted to Malaysia Premier League 1 alongside Sabah and NS Chempaka.
