Road network

The A1011 is a road in East London, England which links Stratford with Canning Town, and Silvertown. The A1011 does not start in Stratford Town Centre but starts about a mile south on the A112 road. The Road runs through West Ham to Canning Town interchange where it meets the A13 and the A124 road. The A1011 continues south from Canning Town a little way until it meets the A1020 road in Silvertown, where it takes over.

The Route

In Stratford

The A1011 starts at the A112 road at New Plaistow Road, south of Stratford and north of Plaistow. It hen runs down in a south western direction along Manor Road.

The next junction is with Mitre Road, which leads onto Abbey Road and past the DLR station to the A118 road at Stratford High Street. This is a quick link to the A118 for Bow for the A11 and the A12 avoiding Stratford town centre, with its one way system.

In West Ham

The Road continues in a south western direction and then takes a bend to make traffic face the south. Next to the road is the Jubilee line and DLR tracks. Here is also where The Greenway, which consists of The Capital Ring, runs above over a footbridge. Continuing south parallel to the Underground and DLR track we now go under another set of bridges. These are the tracks for the District line, Hammersmith & City line and c2c services to London and Essex. Here is the location of West Ham station, a busy main station, and this part of the road can be busy during peak times for people picking up or dropping off passengers for the station.

In Canning Town

Continuing south, still next to the tracks, we go through the town of West Ham. Then we come to a junction for Cody Road industrial estates to the right and a houising estate to the left. This is where the road enters Canning Town. continuing south we come to a junction with Star Lane. This is the location of Star Lane DLR station. To the left is a housing estate, school's, park and local shops but the A1011 continues south past the estate, then taking a long curve coming into the Canning Town interchange.

The Canning Town interchange is a major interchange where the road meets the A13 and the A124 road. The interchange also consists of the Canning Town bus station and Canning Town station, which is on the Jubilee line to Stratford, Central London and Stanmore. The DLR also stops here as 3 branches meet with services to Bank station, Tower Gateway DLR station, Poplar, Beckton, Custom House for ExCeL, London City Airport, Woolwich Arsenal station, Stratford station and Stratford International station.

In Silvertown

The A1011 continues south past the interchange and Kier Hardie Estate until Silvertown, where the A1020 road takes over. The Junction with the A1020 is also for the ExCeL Exhibition Centre and Emirates Airline. The A1020 continues south then east, on the old A1011 route, through West Silvertown to London City Airport, East Silvertown and North Woolwich for the Woolwich Free Ferry over the thames to Woolwich.
