Ashta is a city and a municipal council in Sangli district in the state of Maharashtra, India. The name "Ashta" is due to Lord Raam established eight (Asht) Lord Mahadev temples in this area.
Geography
Ashta is located at 16°57′N 74°24′E / 16.95°N 74.4°E.[1] It has an average elevation of 567 metres (1860 ft).
Demographics
As of 2011 India census,[2] Ashta had a population of 37105. Male constitute 51% of the population and females 49%.
