Athigaratty (also known as Adigaratty) is a hamlet located in the Nilgiri Hills in the state of Tamil Nadu. One of the biggest village in nilgirs South India.[1]

Athigaratty is located 10 km from Udagamandalam and 18 km from Coonoor. It is one of the largest Badaga Hattis (villages) in the Nilgiris in terms of the number of houses, next only to village of Nanjanadu. The major occupation of the Athigarattyians is tea plantation. The local dialect of the Nilgiris, Tamil, malayalam,Badaga, Tamil, Malayalam are spoken here. Athigaratty is popular for its 'Ther Abba'(Ther=chariot, Abba=Festival), an annual carnival which draws a large crowd from around the Nilgiris. known person from that village is Vivek Sedhu (Mannan) founder of மக்கள் முன்னேற்ற கழகம் (People's Progressive Federation). few badaga song singers live in that village, government higher secondary school is very old famous for study. that school is very famous for number of government officers, bankers, IAS officers who studied.
