Company

Company Profile

Bernina International AG is a privately owned company which develops, manufactures and sells goods and services for the textile market, primarily household sewing-related products in the fields of embroidery, quilting, home textiles, garment sewing and crafting.

Target group

Primarily creative hobby sewers, but also designers implement their creative ideas with Bernina sewing and embroidery systems.

Sales

Bernina International AG supplies 80 markets worldwide via business-to-business connections. Accordingly, there is a strong international network of independent dealers and no direct company-to-customer sales. Bernina products are sold in multi-brand stores as well as in mono-brand stores—the latter, which are devoted exclusively to the sale of the 300-or-so products manufactured mainly in Switzerland by the Bernina Textile Group.

Production sites

The Bernina factories are located in Steckborn, Switzerland, as well as in Lamphun, Thailand.

Subsidiaries

The Bernina Textile Group is a group of 15 companies doing business in 80 countries. Subsidiaries are established in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Germany, Japan, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Switzerland and the United States. The subsidiary Benartex, headquartered in the US, sells printed textiles, and quilting fabrics in particular. OESD, another subsidiary, develops and sells embroidery designs on their website EmbroideryOnline.com

Embroidery software

Bernina offers embroidery design editing and full digitizing software branded under its own name and written by industrial digitizing software manufacturer Wilcom International Pty Ltd.[1]
